EXCERPT from the BOOK…
Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. And today?
Today is a gift. That's why we call it the present.
~ Babatunde Olatunji

Present (pres·ent; pronounced: 'pre-z?nt)
n. the current moment or period of time
n. a gift

Most everyone has received a present from one person or another, and perhaps some of us have even experienced moments of living fully in the present. But how many of us realize that these two definitions, seemingly so different could be so closely connected?

In BEing the Present: 101 Ways to Inspire Living and Giving, two dynamic women, Pilar Stella and Cynthia Aliza Blake, offer insightful personal journeys to understanding the powerful relationship between giving and living in the moment. With vivid quotes, amusing anecdotes, and diverse real-life stories, this complete collection of honest moments will help you explore the rich landscape of “the present” and find inspiration for reflection and action in your own life.

BEing the Present takes you on a journey of exploration of living in the moment—of being fully in the here and now and sharing the gifts that come by living fully moment by moment.

Living in the moment seems impossible at times, yet the more we are willing to practice this throughout our day, the more natural it becomes. What will it take? When will it matter? What are you waiting for…to start living? Breathe in, let go, and appreciate what is. Give yourself the gift of BEing the Present.

Each day comes bearing its own gifts.

Seeking Serenity

Seeking Serenity chronicles a curious little girl, Serenity, as she searches to find the meaning of her name. In her dreams, she meets up with 10 Nobel Peace Laureates and asks, “What is Peace?” Each Nobel Peace Laureates responds with one simple word that peace means to them. In this inspiring journey, Serenity teaches us to look within and aspire to inner and world peace.

The book was blessed by the Nobel Laureates including: The Honorable Dalai Lama, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Jody Williams, Betty Williams, Mairead Corrigan Maguire, Adolfo Perez Esquivel, and others. A portion of the proceeds of the book will go to our OneGiving nonprofit and other organizations committed to peace, social justice, change and action on the planet.

When Pilar presented a page spread of the book to Nobel Peace Laureate Desmond Tutu this fall at PeaceJam’s Global Call to Action Conference in Los Angeles, CA, he kissed her three times on her cheeks and hugged her, urging her to continue doing the work she is doing to inspire young people and others to live peace, practice peace and work towards peace on the planet. Over the summer, when she sent the Nobel Laureates emails to request their approval of the book and the pages of with their likeness and a word that means peace to them, Pilar was amazed when the first two Laureates to respond were His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
